Alright all you party goers and music junkies, it’s the wknd and LYFSTYL has been on the prowl to find the releases you haven’t heard of. This week saw some banging, new tracks as well as a sudden spike in some relatively, unknown songs. Here’s a list of what’s new and trending:
Hudson Mohawke - Chimes (Remix)
Release Date: Nov 20, 2014
Ever since 2012, the LYFSTYL crew have been writing about Hudson Mohawke and the great thing about him is the fact he’s getting noticed for his incredible work. By now, you’ve probably heard of Hudson Mohawke’s instrumental song Chimes via the soundcloud release or the Apple commercial. Either way, you may not know that an official remix has been released as of 2 days ago. Personally, I couldn’t care for the lyricism provided by all of the rappers on the remix. I feel like this remix did not go well because the instrumental (the thing they didn’t remix) is the only good thing. However, you should check it out and let us know what you think.
Mary J. Blige/Disclosure - Follow
Release Date: Nov 19, 2014
9 months ago, the trio hooked up to record a remix of F for You.
8 months ago, the remix was critically acclaimed.
6 months ago, Mary J. Blige announced that she would be moving to London to explore a new sound.
3 days ago, Mary J. Blige and Disclosure premiered their latest track, Follow, on the Zane Lowe show.
9 days from now, her latest album, The London Sessions will be released.
Selah Sue ft. Childish Gambino - Together
Release date: Oct 27, 2014
She’s back. The blue-eyed, Belgian belle has proven once again that she’s more than a pretty face. The above video dropped last night via Selah’s YouTube channel and the song has instantly gone from indie to trending. Together is the first release of her latest EP, Alone, which shall be released this December 1st. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the song, click here to download it from iTunes.
Dirty South ft. FMLYBND - The Unknown
Release date: Oct 24, 2014
Nov 4th marked the release of Dirty South’s latest project entitled, With You. Ever since then, the Serbian DJ/Producer/Filmmaker has been all the buzz and for good reason. The music lures you into a state of mind where emotions run wild while the accompanying short film provides another aspect of storytelling; an aspect where the visuals are intensified in a way that can’t be described; only experienced. Anyways, don’t take it from me, have a look at what the producers of Netflix’s Marco Polo series have done with the song, The Unknown, by clicking here.
Azealia Banks - Chasing Time
Release date: Sep 22, 2014
Back in September, Azealia released Chasing Time and last week she dropped the associated video. In my opinion, the Araab Musik produced Ice Princess is a way better track that has been overshadowed by her earlier releases. Simply put, her flow on Ice Princess is phenomenal while her vocals on Chasing Time are meant for the club. FYI, the above video is NSFW.
